Leonardo da Vinci - Partnership:

“European Learning Partnership for Strawbale Building”

The project “European Learning Partnership for Strawbale Building” was focusing in years 2009 - 2011 mainly on collecting and comparing the best building practice of straw bale building in European partner countries and developping the structure for european straw bale building training.

Six different techniques were documented and compared and the curriculum of training programme with 10 units was created to correspond to the frame of ECVET (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training) to encourage future mobility of craftsmen all over the Europe.

The partners of the project are from Belgium - Casa Calida (coordinator), Germany - FASBA (Fachverband Strohballenbau Deutschland e.V.), Spain - Arquitectos ara B sccl, France - Les Compaillons, Slovakia - ArTUR ( Architektura pre trvalo udrzatelny rozvoj) and the guest partner from England - Amazonails.

The last meeting of the project “European Learning Partnership for Strawbale Building” was held from 25th to 29th of May 2011 in Hruby Sur near Senec, in Slovakia. The main topic of the meeting was to organize and evaluate a trial course of one selected part of the training program for straw bale building. The presented course was demonstrating Unit 2 (out of 10 Units) - Different infill techniques, prefabrication and loadbearing system and various teaching methods and techniques were shown. The participants of the course were the trainers and craftsmen from France, Belgium, Germany and Slovakia.

The finishing of the project includes also its presentation at the International Conference Healthy Houses 2011, which was held 16th and 17th of May 2011 in Bratislava, Slovakia, where the project was presented by poster presentation. The project will be also presented in August at the ESBG 2011 - The European Straw Bale Building Gathering in Czech Republic [see attachment below].
